Hello All,
We are so excited to officially launch our services on Custom Cockers! While it may be more lucrative to sell to a wider audience for free on other sites I personally love this forum and want to support it in any way I can. So.. My Wifey and I have started up an new anodizing line and are exited to bring you our work. Jody, my wife is doing all the dying and is exceptional in her eye for color and design. What she is looking to bring to the table amazes me every day we put on our gloves and dip aluminum into color. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next! So far we have done the oldies but goodies but what she has concepted is something that I have never seen before and can't wait to see whats next.

Me? I'm the surface prep guy and marketer (and I also love to play with kickass looking guns!!). I work in musical instrument manufacturing as my day job and zone out to the sounds of the polishing wheel at night.. There is something beautiful, honest and pure about that polishing wheel.. I love it!

Here is one style that my step-daughter's boyfriend's brother requested.. Don't worry about why this kid requested a rasta splash... he's a good guy, so is his brother... and so is my step-daughter. I also am a white guy with dreads so I don't judge as my hairstyle is voted the worst of all worlds above the mullet! ;)

We had two jobs to do plus some of our cocker bodies to work on. Here is a nice polished Black CCM body! This came out real nice. I did have to put it on the polishing wheel three times to get all the little scuffs and scratches out!

Here was a quick and dirty job. There were a couple spots on the foregrip due to some pits that were just too deep, but it still came out nice. Also the CCM air fitting was a beautiful clear ano.

Now this one Jody played around a bit with an old school style fade splash. This is a Nightkast body with a threaded feedneck. I think it came out great! It will be going up for sale later this evening.

Hey guys, We have experienced our first overload of work! Thank you all for sending us your projects. We have gotten quite backed up due to the fact I had some work unexpected issues pop up that made me travel thud shutting down the polishing part of our operation. We hope to knock out a certain Karni, reflex, color matches and raw parts (was that vague enough?) this weekend and that should put us in good shape. Sorry once again! We see the bottle neck in our operation (wait, what did I just call myself?) and are working to resolve this ASAP.

Also, We received a trigger today from someone. We cant read the name on the return address. It came from Plymouth MN. Anyone know what this is?

Just got my parts back, and you did a great job! Pictures up tomorrow or Sat (I want natural light). Got one here for now. Monkeybutt did everything aluminum, I did the brass in duracoat.

Hello All
I have news from Monkey Butt Customs that may disturb you, but I am here to assure that we are alive and well and are just changing up our style a bit. Jody, my amazing counterpart and compatriot has taken a rep job from a company she worked for previously. She now is now again selling all the "crap" that your wives and girlfriends buy at those incredibly overpriced boutiques. Cards, stationary and gift..

I am extremely proud of her to take this on again as this is her calling! She can sell anything to anyone, but this is the girly stuff she loves and is incredibly good at pitching.

That being said, it means that we will be slowing down a bit. The good news is that most of the turnaround time had to do with polishing all the parts.. and that was my responsibility. She will continue to help, but depending on the time of the year it will be dependent on the job and what season she is selling.

If you have a project in house there are no worries. We will continue to crank these out as she is between seasons. If you haven't yet received my address, then the turn around time may have increased. Please do contact me if you haven't sent what you wanted to send. All others will be cranked out asap, please standby for updates which for many will happen this weekend.

While I am at it I would like to dispel a few myths around anodizing.

1) "I just have one part and you can throw it in with the rest of the (choose your color here)" - 90% of the work actually happens before the anodizing process starts. There is still allot of labor involved to make your part come out perfect. so we and most anodizers do charge a premium for this service.
2) "its already a polished finish so it shouldn't be too hard" - when we strip the ano off a part we still will have to spend some time polishing the part back up or it looks horrible after we ano it. Just remember.. if the metal looks bad then the ano will look bad. I would never just strip and throw it back into ano, that would look absolutely horrible!
3) "doesn't the dust come off with the ano?" - I was guilty of this one too.. once you strip the color off all that is left is the raw metal. If that metal was a dust finish then it will remain a dust finish. If it was a gloss finish then it will be a "gloss finish" but will be rather dull unless you polish it again. if you want to make a polished finish dust again you must polish it, clean it and then sandblast it. it is a bit of a process... if it is a dust and you want to make it polished... that is crazy extensive. Many anodizers dont do this because of the time involved.
4) anodizing makes lots of money! - What's the difference between a large pizza and a paintball gun anodizer? A large pizza can feed a family of four! Yes it seems that anodizing makes a shload of money, but honestly with the amount of labor that goes into making it right and the costs of many materials it is not a sustainer for this family. I can see how a college student could run with this full time, they would be making bank for the time they put in! But a professional?..... just slightly less so....

I will absolutely continue with the CC sponsorship and in the long run will have more time to come up with amazing new concepts that will move anodizing into the future, but on the frontline we will be taking things a little slower to enjoy that perfect work/life ratio.

Hey Guys, quick update from Monkey Butt. We got a little behind over the last few weeks. I think it was part greed (send us everything!!!!) and part not being able to control workflow because of not knowing when these projects would come in. Well, good news for all! I was able to take my last three days of vacation time from the main job next week and will be devoting it to getting all these projects complete. I may not send you our signature updates, but please be aware that we are pushing your projects forward.

After next weekend Monkey Butt will be slowing down for a couple months. I have some of my own projects I would like to do, but also I just need to spend some time with the family instead of polishing every night and weekend. After this break we will be going at a slower pace for a while due to the regular job workload (unless I can find some polishing help).

Thanks guys, we'll take this time to refocus our efforts. When we come back up we will start fresh again and be able to give the superb level of customer service and communication that we have slowed down on in the last couple months. So I received a box in the mail yesterday that contained something special. Yep, it contained the parts I needed to make my Carter Comp complete. Now I can run a remote bottle! When I sent the parts to Monkey Butt, Drew said that he would do the best he could to ano match the pieces to my marker, but wasn't sure about matching the light green correctly. Well, see for yourself. This is a pretty damn good ano match if you ask me! Thanks Monkey Butt!

Yes thanks to the fine folk in the community I do wear a respirator (I didn't at first in the windy garage, but certainly do here). I was going to install a hood during our break, however since I may move in the near future I decided that a broom would serve.

Yes Jon! This is one thing that I would like to communicate! I have cordoned this off from the rest of the house and workspace, but the perfectly polished finishes are produced in an area my dog won't even get near!! Ha ha. It's an early night for me... I thought I had more tripoli polish than I did... The good news is that I made it though what I needed to for this weekend.

For some of the newer guns we can but really prefer that they come unassembled. For Cockers and older guns no way! Too many ways to put idiot marks and problems with blue and red loctites of the world... Stripped screws... Jewel removal....
