I've decided on the product and the name; pretty sure Nathan will do anything I say... He's been my manslave for a lot of years (ref. AIR-Powered.com days.) rotfl

Created this thread because I'm waiting for a bolt half-worth buying and Moody paintball is likely to build a bolt that's no less than 75% worth buying!

You just can't let the beach vacation go, can you? lol
I have some ideas for a bolt, but the hard part is going to be finding the time to try it out. I mean, to test it correctly, it's going to be a "cut, test, cut some more, test some more, rinse, repeat, etc". I'm going to finish the reflex project first, then worry about a bolt. Don't hold your breath though, it took me 14 years to get started on the reflex idea lol
I was toying with the idea of getting a mini-mill and lathe, but for now, I'm going to stick with bumming time on machines at work.

I hate you wiffle. Like I didn't have enough crap to play around with, you had to get me started on a bolt too.
I have an idea to make a completely smooth gas path for the input to the output. It will be a .315" inlet, and a .550" outlet, all in a smooth, gradual curve to prevent disruption in the gas flow.

Sorry Nathan... wait, no, that's a lie! I am excited to hear of your commitment!

Hey let's wrap this up!

Got projects that need bolts.
Put me down for a 2k+ and a 99

The 3d printing idea I was working on doesn't look like it's going to work out. Too expensive to have the parts printed in small lots, plus time and material to make the rest of the bolt would make it a very expensive bolt.
So, I'm going to play with a more traditional design with removable center sections so the over all length of the bolt can be adjusted.

Getting a high tolerance is with a 3-D printer is going to cost a lot of money since most of the cheap ones are for prototyping only and don't really have very good smooth lines.

So, I got some time in the lathe department today, and whipped up a test bolt, and got to do some shooting today......
It wasn't what I had hoped :(
Using old, badly barrel matched marbs, my mQ orracle (the only gun I had ready to go that took a 2k bolt) lost about 20 fps using my bolt vrs using the stock bolt. It was slightly more consistent than the stock bolt, but 20 fps is a pretty big drop. I was hoping for an increase. :(
In my pump, it seemed to perform well, but I rained out before I could get a chrono to it.
I went with a 3/8" slanted inlet port on this one, and I think the extra volume is the cause of the drop. I'm going to make another with a closer match to the valve outlet, and see how that goes.

Could be that losses associated with the step up in diameter between the valve outlet and bolt inlet can be attributed to your losses...
However - Didn't the Belsales Supercharger have a large oval straight cut? It wasn't a particularly complex venturi.

Curious to know what your troubleshooting turns out.
