    Sovereign Picture thread

    Article from Wolf13
    BBT Sovereign

Although not strictly an autococker in the sense of the WGP style, the Sterling Sovereign 45 is technically an autococker like the autohammer and Palmers guns. Debuted in 97 by Sterling Lada, they received a lukewarm reception in the US by consumers despite excellent reviews but had a decent following in Europe. Although a good system, it has been hampered by a lack of exposure, limited availability and came at the start of the electro era, which effectively doomed high end mechs. Although a number of company's made barrels, this wasn't a widely known or available thing. Bad Boyz Toyz and Eclipse both produced custom versions of the Sovereign 1 that were lauded by their owners for the brief time they were offered. Danny Love of BBT had a major hand in the design of the sovereign so it was no surprise that he produced a custom version. Although rare, a few vert feed Sovereign 1's were produced by BBT. In total it is rumored only 10 sovereigns in total left BBT, including the few vert feeds. Aftershock for a brief time even fielded them as a team gun. The modifications offered by BBT ranged from a near complete reworking of the internals to a milder more cosmetic approach.

Eclipse on the other hand offered a much more available gun, and although still very rare in the US, significantly more were produced then the BBT's, even a few of the Sovereign 2's. The vast bulk of aftermarket accessories and upgrades for the Sovereign were Eclipse in origin for the average consumer.

The third major customizer of Sovereigns is Brad Q Nestle of PBmaxx. A number of Brads projects replaced the slide frame with a hinge frame, and his work is highly regarded.

these are sovereign 1's, easily identified by the back block. Sovereign 1's were only available for a short time before being pulled from the market for a redesign and due to internal problems within the company. The design was sold to Arrow precision and modified with the removal of the back block and a switch to a plastic 45 frame as well as some tweaking in the design. The Sovereign 2 is also no longer available although Eclipse did a few custom 2's and aftermarket parts. Arrow has now released a version 3 which accepts spider barrels. Extremely rare in the US, they are starting to make a return in the UK.

Like a cocker this system consists of a pneumatic 4-way (3-way if you wish) an LPR and a ram. in the case of the sovereign though, the ram has been integrated into the bolt, called a rambolt. I've heard the Sovereign referred to as "an autococker that grew up" and it certainly does take a more refined approach to the system. The problem is, that although a good system, it has proven to be more subject to wear then a cocker.

As far as feel goes, this gun is lighter then most cockers, slightly smaller and as far as trigger goes, every bit as fast. If you have a chance to pick one up and aren't intimidated by the rarity or it being a mech, Its a fun little gun.
