need valve retainer thread size

Just got an empire sniper from a friend, the valve retainer loosened at some point and the threads go dinged up enough I cant get it to thread back in. It looks fine, and will go in 1/4 turn and stops, I need to chase the thread does any one know what the thread size is?

For future reference 5/16 24 and m8 1.0 both fit perfectly, I used the 5/16 24.
